Time has been flying by during the last few months and I am only now finding the time to sit down and write about one of the highlights of my summer...Sara and Dave's wedding! Sara is one of my very best friends from high school and I was so thrilled when she asked me last November to be her maid of honor! They were married this past August at the Sunset Hill House in Franconia NH...it was AMAZING! Sara and Dave's wedding was such a unique and wonderful experience. They were married encircled by friends, family and wild flowers! The special touches were just incredible. We walked down to the ceremony while a cello player softly played out in the field. Sara was announced by the ringing of a singing bowl and she was accompanied by both her mother and father into the center of the circle. When Sara and Dave greeted each other we had a moment of silence to bring all of us into the present time. There were some beautiful readings given and then the parents were asked to tie a ribbon onto a walking stick that Sara and Dave had made making a wish for the couple (the guests tied ribbons during the reception). After the marriage we all walked a loop through the field and upon returning Dave's band had materialized and played Sara a song that Dave had written for her (sigh!) I could just go on and on but I will only give a few more favorite details! We were announced by parade, dancing behind a horn band playing "The Saints Go Marching In!"...the centerpieces were terra cotta pots bursting with herbs...there was delicious pie instead of the traditional cake..taking the place of a guest book was a canvas with a painted tree, each guest painted a leaf and signed the boarder...a fire pit was lit when the sun went down...the music was intoxicating...little jars of maple syrup were given as favors...it was one of the best weddings EVER!
