Spring is one of my favorite times to venture into the forest...the bright green sprigs, delicate woodland flowers, flurry of new life and the twitter of song birds is so lovely and refreshing! I cannot wait to take a day trip to my favorite woodland hideaways...if it ever stops raining! ♥

Today I am loving this unique and whimsical little root vase handmade by Lizette Greco! This pretty root (handmade out of recycled fabrics and stuffing with an inserted jam jar to hold flowers or plants) resembles a mandrake, a root belonging to the nightshade family, which is thought to take a similar form to that of a human. There is a great amount of folklore, history and literature surrounding the mandrake and more recently they have been featured in both Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Pans Labyrinth!

I adore the bright, beautiful pop of spring green that magically appears overnight after the first big rain storm!!! So fresh and lovely!

May is one of my absolute favorite months! It is a time of excitement and rebirth in my sleepy little New England town; when the trees overflow with blossoms, songbirds wake me in the morning with their beautiful twittering and peepers sing me to sleep! The last of our snow has finally melted here (longest winter ever!!!) and I am so looking forward to color and warmth!
